Refunding a Partially Used Gift Card

Problem
I am unable to cancel/refund a partially used gift card in the system. When I try to adjust the fee amount to generate a refund, I see a "SAGIFTCERTIFICATEDETAIL is not available" error message. How do I refund a partially used gift certificate?
Error Message
SAGIFTCERTIFICATEDETAIL is not available
Solution
Issue a new gift certificate to the family member for the same amount that needs to be refunded, and then pay for that gift certificate with the original gift certificate. Navigate back to the household and cancel the new gift certificate. This will generate a refund that can be processed as normal.
Steps For Solution
- From your RecTrac main menu, navigate to to Global Sales.
- From the Global Sales Lookup DataGrid, locate the Household that purchased the gift certificate.
- Click Select.
- Click on the POS Service tab.
- Select a gift certificate from the DataGrid.
- Click Add To Cart.
- Note: Be sure to issue a new gift certificate number and do not reload the current gift certificate.
- Click the Payment button to proceed to the Payment screen.
- Select Gift Certificate as the pay code.
- Select the original gift certificate from the drop down, or type in the original gift certificate number.
- Process the transaction.
- Navigate back to the customer's household in Global Sales and open Purchase History.
- Select the new gift certificate from Purchase History DataGrid.
- Click Cancel > Cancel Selected Item.
- Process the refund as normal.
