The Species Update screen allows you to add or update Location Codes. Species Codes allow you to classify the various types of flora (trees, bushes, shrubs, flowers, etc…) you maintain within your department.
Note: Field names on the screen with red labels* are required by the screen design you are using. Mandatory fields in the default Vermont Systems design are noted where appropriate. Your design and mandatory fields may vary.
From the bottom of the screen…
Click Save to save changes. You will return to the previous screen.
Click Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving changes.

Species Code (MTSPECIES_SpeciesCode)
If you are creating a new Species, then enter your Species Code in this field. Codes may be alpha and/or numeric. For Example: Sugar Maple. This is a Mandatory field for the standard VSI Design. Your Design may vary.
If you are updating an existing Species Code then you will not visit this field.
DeleteCommon Name (MTSPECIES_CommonName)
Enter the Common Name for this Species. For Example: Sugar Maple.
DeleteDescription (MTSPECIES_Description)
Enter the Description for this Species. For Example: Sugar Maple.
DeleteCategory Code (MTSPECIES_CategoryCode)
Click the Picklist icon to select the proper Category Code for this Species.
Category Codes are maintained in System Code Management. Type=Species Category.
DeleteSpecies (MTSPECIES_Species)
Enter the Species Name for this Species, if desired. For Example: Acer.Saccharum
DeleteCultivar (MTSPECIES_Cultivar)
Enter the Cultivar for this species, if desired. Cultivar typically refers to the greenhouse/nursery/vendor from whom you procure trees/shrubs/flowers for this Species. Optionally it can refer to desirable characteristics that you want maintained in the Species during propagation.
DeleteISA Rating (MTSPECIES_ISARating)
Enter a value in this field, if desired. The value you enter represents the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Hazard Evaluation risk assessment rating for this Species. If you do not know the ISA rating for this Species, or for further information about the ISA, visit http://www.isa-arbor.com/.
