Increasing Touch Button reaction time in 3.1 Touch POS
Problem
What can be done to shorten the lag time between clicking a button in Touch POS and then being allowed to click another one?
Solution
Try adding a 'Clear Touch Buffer' button to your Touch menus. VSI recommends adding this button to the Fixed Keypad are, though you may place it anywhere.
When the 'Clear Touch Buffer' button is present, Touch POS goes into a buffer mode. In Buffer Mode, you can click Touch buttons as fast as you can/want. The button pushed gets buffered, and the system will catch up as quickly as it can, depending on factors, such as the speed of your network connection, the server, etc.
As you push buttons, the (Clear Buffer) button will keep count of the items buffered. The value goes up as you push buttons and it goes down as items are added to the Shopping Cart. Clicking the (Clear Buffer) button will 'clear' the items in the buffer; they will NOT be added to the Shopping Cart. (This essentially cancels the buffer.)
In the attached sample image, seven items have been selected. Two (2) are in the Shopping Cart and the other five (5) are in the buffer.
The 'Clear Touch Buffer' button does not necessarily increase the overall speed of Touch POS. However, it is highly effective in minimizing the time lag between pushing Touch Buttons.
