Discover how to install and update Progress 11.7.5 and RecTrac 3.1.03.00
Question
We're trying to run the Progress 11.7.5 install /RecTrac 3.1.10.03.00 update, but it's failing. We get a few minutes into the process and it quits with the following error:
Aborting Install
Shut down these running processes before reinstalling.
C:\VSI3\Progress\DLC117\bin\environ.dll
C:\VSI3\Progress\DLC117\bin\jni_util.dll
C:\VSI3\Progress\DLC117\bin\jutil.dll
What are we doing wrong?
Answer
You're not doing anything wrong. The .dlls listed indicate that the Apache Tomcat 8.5 Windows Service is still running on your server. That's the "running process" mentioned in the message. The Tomcat service needs to be stopped in order to run the Progress 11.7.5 install /RecTrac 3.1.10.3.00 update. Here are the detailed steps.
- Go to Windows Services on the server.
-
Set the Startup type to "Manual" for the following services. (Right-click on the service and select 'Properties.')
- AdminService for OpenEdge 11.7 (64 bit)
- Apache Tomcat 8.5
- Exit Services and all running programs and restart the server.
- When the server restarts, log in as a local admin and re-run the install/update process.
- Refer to Refer to Progress 11.7.5 Patch.pdf for further instructions.
- Contact Vermont Systems Support if the problem persists.
