Problem
We have recently migrated to PayTrac. When someone calls in a reservation over the phone the front desk staff are not sure how to collect credit card payments. How can we continue to process manual credit card payments through PayTrac?
Solution
You can continue to manually enter credit cards with PayTrac using a Manual Credit Card Paycode.
Note:
The manual entry occurs on a pin pad device, so users must have a pin pad to complete the transaction.
Steps For Solution
To create a manual pay code:
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Payment Code Management.
- Click Add
- Asign a Pay Code.
- Set Payment Type to Credit Card.
- In Prefix Validation, enter the word, ‘Manual.’
- Fill out the remaining fields as you normally would. Use the 'i' or '?' Help buttons for field definitions as needed.
- Click Save.
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Profile Management.
- Highlight the Payment Profile linked within your User/UserGroup/Workstation/Default hierarchy.
- Click Update.
- Add the new payment code to the Allowed Pay Codes field.
- Click Save.
When you process a sale in RecTrac and select the manual credit card payment code, the Ingenico unit will switch to manual entry mode, and you may complete the sale.
