This video covers configuring RecTrac 3.1 and the Honeywell 7580 G scanner for serial emulation and background visit processing. To successfully follow along with this video, you will need admin access to the workstations, access to the Vermont systems sFTP site, a Honeywell 7580 G scanner and RecTrac Profile access. The first step is to identify that you have a 7580 G by looking for the model number printed under the top visor. Once this has been confirmed, you can plug the device into a free USB port on your computer. By default, it will be in keyboard wedge mode, which means you can test its functionality by scanning a barcode into Notepad or any simple text Field. Once the functionality has been verified, unplug the device navigate to the Vermont systems secure FTP site. Note the latest instructions for accessing the SFTP site are always in KB 1516. open files/updates and drivers. Find the Honeywell folder and download the Genesis 7580 G folder to your computer. Open the Genesis 7580 G folder open the HSM USB serial driver folder, then the HSM USB serial driver version 3.5.7. Right Click on the Setup bat and select run as administrator. This should very briefly pop up a command prompt and immediately close. Go back to the Genesis 7580 G folder and open the EZ config scanning directory. Right Click on the EZ config scanning version 4542 setup exe, run as administrator and run through the installation defaults. Once complete, you can now plug the 7580 G back into your workstation. Close any web browsers that may be open and then launch easy config from a shortcut that was created on your desktop. Select connected device and wait for the easy config to find the attached scanner. Verify your scanner is found and highlighted in green. Then select Configure device. Select Data formatting and configure the device to use a percent preamble and a carriage return as the postamble. These values will later tell RecTrac that there's a beginning and an end to each scan. Once complete, Click Save to device. Then go to settings, then interface, under the USB interface drop down select USB comport emulation. Click Save to device again and you'll get a message that the device has disconnected. This is expected. We are now done with easy config. Open Device Manager and expand ports. You should see a USB serial device with a comport already assigned, you can accept the default or go into Properties / Port Settings then advanced and you can assign any number you like. Make a note of the comport number. We'll leave that for the RecTrac input Profile. Speaking of RecTrac Let's log in and go to Profile assignments. select or create an input Profile with the Profile Type set to input in the profiles subtype set to serial. Describe it as you see fit, but Honeywell make sense here. Select the first drop down to visit processing. Make sure your comport number matches the number selected in device manager and set the preamble to percent and the post amble to carriage return. Turn on the next two toggles to strip both values from the swipe. Save the Profile then link it to the workstation which has a scanner attached. Open the visit Profile for this workstation or clone it from an existing Profile. The attended versus unintended mode options don't really matter but the background access control visit settings should be set to require minimal clerk interaction. We recommend select first valid pass and autocomplete default as the minimum with some people opting to also display photos. Verify that the Profile is properly linked to the workstation. Once complete, save and link it to the same workstation. It's now a good idea to log out of RecTrac and either reboot the workstation or stop VIC from the taskbar, relaunch VIC from the icon log back into RecTrac and open visit processing. Open any other Tabs you'd like. And then while in any tab swipe to pass, you should get a notification that the visit was successful. And if you move back to the visit tab, you'll see the visit records. You've now successfully configured background as a processing with the 7580 G
