In this video, we're going to review the topic of the default drawer number in the message we can sometimes receive during processing. So to highlight this, I'm gonna open up global sales, and make sure you already have a household selected and an item selected. And I'm just going to add to cart. And we're running into this information box. So this is alerting me to let me know that I'm actually processing against the default drawer number. And I'm not currently set up as a user to allow that. In many databases, the drawer number is representing basically the location value or the workstation value. So you, that's an important value in your database that you want to be able to track where a transaction is actually actually taking place above and beyond the user that's actually processing it. And that's where this value is a kind of a critical value for reporting purposes. So for example, if I switch over to my GL distribution report, it's very common for users to run reports, GL distribution ports for all users, for whatever date range you're looking for. And then they want to see what took place at one location or another location based off of the cash drawer range, or one workstation versus another workstation, again, based off of that value.

That's where, in many cases, that's an important thing that we want to capture. And by running into that message, it's learning us to let us know that, hey, we're not actually set up to capture that information. I can also see that if I Click on my user details icon in the bottom left, I can actually see, you know what user I'm logged in as what user group, the workstation, and ultimately that cache store value. So there are a couple different ways you can fix it and address this, one way would be to actually assign out a proper drawer value. So if I go to Profile assignments, I actually already have it open here. And on the left hand side, a couple of different drawer profiles in this database. Drawer profiles are typically assigned at the either workstation level, or sometimes the user group or site level, depending on what is your kind of location, and preferred setup.

So for my example, I'll go to workstations and I'll find my workstation in the list. And I'm going to drag over one of my work my drawer values here. So I'm gonna say that these workstations at the Barkly location, and now I'm going to Click and drag and release that so that this workstation is now flagged with that drawer value. And actually, if I Click on I can see that store value 200. So in order for this to take effect, I actually need to log out and log back in. So I'll do that right now. And when I log back in, I'll go to my user details just to check to see that my new value has taken hold. And I'm going to go to global sales and just see that I'm no longer running into that message. So I go to do the same enrollment. And we can see it's actually advancing further than it did before it's dropping that item right into my cart. So I've actually resolved that that default drawer message by assigning a true valid drawer number in my database.

Another way to solve it if the locations really aren't important to you, and workstations aren't important to you, as far as where transactions took place is you can resolve this by turning on allowing that processing against the default drawer at the user level. So for example, if I go to User Management, and I open up my user that I'm actually currently logged in as this might be under miscellaneous depending on how your Screen is set up, but there's going to be an allow processing on default drawer value located somewhere in user update. So if you turn this on, I'd also bypass that message. And you could turn that on if you only had one location and it wasn't something that you felt was critical to track. You could turn that on for all users and not have to worry about a chore setting in your database. But those are two different ways to resolve the default drawer message.
