In this video, we're going to walk through the topic of sessions in RecTrac and we'll review session management along with these settings in the background and the scheduled event associated with ending sessions automatically. So I'm on my log in screen currently. So if I was to go to log in to my local session of RecTrac, one of the first indicators of a session is if you've already got one open on another workstation or in another time, the first thing you're presented with anytime you log in is going to be the option to resume that existing session if you want to, or start a new one.

If you're doing something completely different, you have the option to do that depending on the scenario. So I'm just going to continue and start a brand new session. And now I'm logged in to RecTrac with all my normal settings, and that's really the only indicator for a session actually being in play. But every time you log in to RecTrac, there's always going to be a corresponding session in the background and highlight that.

I'm actually going to switch over to my other rec track window that I have open and I'm going to go into from the menu. If you type in session, I'm going to jump into session management that I already have open here and I'm just going to hit refresh and we can see in my database in this example, I'm only showing open sessions currently and I could see that I have two sessions of RecTrac currently open and the dates and times associated with those for the workstation, the user and the interface for where they're actually located.

So from within session management, you can view these sessions and give you that visual. You can also have the option to close them manually if the scenario calls for it. This is showing currently my two RecTrac sessions, but this will also in show the WebTrac related sessions as well. So every time you log into RecTrac, it creates a session for a RecTrac interface type.

And every time a patron logs in with their household account on WebTrac it also creates a corresponding session that would also be listed in here as well. So session management is a good tool to be able to kind of go in and see what is currently active in and who's logged in and where. The settings for session management and specifically the session cleaner side of things is located under a static parameter.
00:02:14:29 - 00:02:40:09
Brian Hatch
So if you go to profile assignments at the bottom, you have the option for static parameters. So if you're looking to review how often sessions are going to stay active for how long and in what scenario, once you're in static parameters on the right hand side, you can expand session cleaner settings and you can see there's two different columns of settings, one specifically for RecTrac for different scenarios and one for WebTrac for different scenarios.
00:02:40:12 - 00:03:05:05

And you can set the number of minutes that you want the sessions to remain active for either scenario. So this is where all these settings are currently set and managed. And those settings actually all tie back to a scheduled event. So I have another panel open here for scheduled events management. So I got an open that up and I actually already have it narrowed down or filter down to my session cleaner specific scheduled event.

So this is one that's going to exist in every database. Usually it's tied to the ZZZ user and this runs every minute. So should always have a current date and time. As far as the last run date, time is concerned within a minute and it runs every minute checks against those static parameter settings to see if there's any sessions that it should be kind of cleaning up at or closing out based on those parameters.

So this automatically keeps sessions up to date and cleaned up for both RecTrac and WebTrac. So if you're ever having an issue and seeing older times or older dates in there, this would be the item to check to make sure that it is active and it should automatically be running and up to date. And that is a review of sessions in RecTrac.
