How do I apply payment to specific items in the cart?

Problem
A customer is making a payment toward a specific item in the cart, but not paying toward the other items at the moment. How can we make sure that the payment is applied to the specific item it is meant for?
Solution
You can distribute funds to selected cart items directly from the Global Sales Payment Screen.
Steps For Solution
- From the Global Sales Payment Screen, add the amount you wish to pay into the Total Paid field.
- Select the appropriate Pay Code.
- Select the item from the Shopping Cart.
- Click Distribute Payment Toward Fees.
- Click Apply Total Paid to Each Selected Item.
- Repeat steps 1-5 for each item being paid for.
- Click Process.
The amount entered in the Total Paid field will be reflected on the generated receipt against the specific cart items.
