CardConnect Error: Enter Message Text

Problem
When attempting to process a credit card transaction clerks are seeing the following error message on the pin pad.

"enter message text"
Solution
When configuring PIN Pads, there has to be a one-to-one relationship between the Profiles in RecTrac and the hardware attached to the workstation. Having the wrong credit card profile linked to the workstation can cause the above error. Locate and link the matching credit card profile for the specific hardware to the workstation, then perform a test transaction.
Steps For Solution
- From the Rectrac main menu, go to Profile Assignments.
- Locate the workstation that is experiencing the error in the middle column.
- Make sure the correct Credit Card Profile that has the associated Terminal IDis linked to this workstation.
- To verify the Terminal ID, highlight the Credit Card Profile from the profile list.
- Click Update.
- Scroll down and click List Terminal IDs, this will produce a list of all Terminal IDs associated with the MID on the Credit Card Profile.
Once the correct Credit Card Profile was linked to the workstation clerks were no longer seeing the "enter message text" error on the pin pad screen.
