Problem
We realize we need additional profiles for a new location. How do we add a new profile?
Solution
You only need a new profile when there are changes to the settings inside of the profile required. You can make a new profile from Profile Assignments by either adding a new one from scratch or cloning an existing profile as a starting point.
Steps For Solution
- Ensure you have admin permissions to access Profile Assignments and Profile Management.
- Determine which option is appropriate for your needs and follow the decision tree below.
Do you need to make changes to an existing profile's settings?
Is there an existing profile that is similar to the one you wish to create?
Clone and existing profile to make small changes for a different user/user group/ workstation.
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Profile Management.
- Highlight the existing Profile from the DataGrid.
- Click Clone.
- Under New Record Code List enter a new Profile Code.
- Click Continue.
- Click Process.
- Click Close.
- Highlight the newly cloned profile from the DataGrid.
- Click Change.
- Change settings as needed for that particular profile.
- Click Save.
Create an entirely new profile from scratch.
- From the ReTrac main menu, navigate to Profile Assignments.
- Click Add.
- Select the Profile Type.
- Enter an identifiable Profile Code and Description.
- Click Create.
- Enable additional settings as needed for that particular profile.
- Click Save.
Apply an existing profile to a new workstation.
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Profile Assignments.
- Locate the profile you wish to apply to the new location under the Available Profile column.
- Drag and drop this profile to the appropriate hierarchy position for the new location
After a DataGrid refresh, the profile will then be available to assign to User / User Group / Site / Workstation / Default linking levels.
