3.1 Cannot use gift cards due to 'Only $0.00 can be applied...' errors
Problem
When patrons try to make a pass payment using a Gift Card, we're getting the 'Only $0.00 can be applied....' message. The passes were sold BEFORE the Gift Card was created, but we have since gone back and linked the Gift Card codes to the Advanced Fees, so I'm not sure why I'm still getting this error. What do we need to do?
Solution
To allow use of a Gift Card against fees for items sold BEFORE the Gift Card was linked, you need to change the Detail records on those items. In your case, you need to change the Detail records for the passes you sold. This can be done through Fee Management Bulk Change, using the Change Detail Records Linked to File Maintenance Records option.
1. In RecTrac, go to Management ribbon System Management Fee/Rule/Question Management group Fee Management.
2. Click Bulk Change. The '?' Help contains instructions and examples for using this program, if needed.
3. Highlight/select the Fee/Fees you need to change.
4. Enable the Change Detail Records Linked to File Maintenace Records option Use the 'i' Help for a description of what this field does.
5. Scroll down the Bulk Changes Available Fields DataGrid, select GiftCertficateList and click Add.
6. Enter your list of Gift Certificates in the field that appears and click Continue when ready. Wildcarding is allowed. Use the 'i' Help for Wildcarding assistance, if needed.
7. Click Process Bulk Change. The process runs on the AppServer. You will be notified when it completes. Exit the program.
8. Launch Global Sales. Patrons now will be able to make payments on the Pass using their Gift Cards.
