The IDSwipe profile establishes parameters for reading ID Card swipe information. RecTrac currently offers two (2) methods for parsing member information during a look-up, Member ID and Cross Reference. VSI recommends establishing Option Settings for both, as the system will cycle through options in the event a match is not found.

Making changes to a profile is an Audited Event. Additionally, Linking, Removing, Purging, and Cloning profiles are also Audited Events.

Swipe Option (SAProfileDetails_SwipeOption1)
Expand the Drop-down list to select your Swipe Option. The Swipe Option determine which data will be parsed when performing a member look up.
Your options are:
- N/A - Not Applicable. No data will be parsed; this option will be skipped during member look up.
- Cross Reference - The system will look to the SACrossReference table and attempt to find a match.
- Member ID - The system will look at the SAPerson table and attempt to find a match.
Note: The various Option Settings groups (Option 1 Settings Option 2 Settings and Option 3 Settings) work together in terms of a fail over to ensure the card being swiped is valid. For Example: Option 1 is "Cross Reference Option 2 is Member ID and Option 3 is N/A." When a swipe is read the system will look first at Option 1. If a match is found the system will use the Cross Reference Number to locate the member. If no match is found the system will fail over to Option 2 and look for a matching Member ID. If one is found the system will use that. If no match is found the system will fail over to Option 3. Since Option 3 is "N/A the system will return an Invalid Swipe.
In the event you were using Option 1 only (Cross Reference in the example above) and Options 2 and 3 were set to N/A the system would return an Invalid Swipe whenever a Cross Reference match was NOT found regardless of whether the card being swiped was a valid Member ID.
Characters to Strip (SAProfileDetails_StripCharacters1)
Enter any characters you want to strip from the bar code or magnetic strip before passing the information to household lookup program. No delimiters are required, simply enter the characters you wish to strip without spaces.
For Example: %;?
You might use this option for such instances as removing the terminating question mark (?) that appears at the end of each Track of a Magnetic Strip or to remove a starting percentage sign (%) from a bar code, etc
DeleteMagnetic Stripe Delimiter (SAProfileDetails_MagDelimiter1)
Enter the Magnetic Stripe track delimiter/preamble/sentinel symbol that you encode, if any. When reading magnetic stripes, the delimiter/preamble/sentinel you enter here is used to determine when data parsing begins.
Examples include, but are not limited to: %, $, ;l, etc….
DeleteMagnetic Stripe Track Number (SAProfileDetails_MagTrack1)
This field is applicable only if you encode a Magnetic Stripe Delimiter.
Enter a number in this field: 1 or 2. The number you enter tells the system whether to parse/read data to the LEFT of the delimiter/preamble/sentinel (i.e. data that is encoded before the symbol) or to the RIGHT of the delimiter/preamble/sentinel (i.e. data that is encoded after the symbol).
- 1 - You want the system to use the data encoded to the left of (i.e. before) the delimiter/preamble/sentinel.
- 2 - You want the system to use the data encoded to right of (i.e. after) the delimiter/preamble/sentinel.
For Example: You encode a 13-digit number using a percent symbol (%) as a preamble as follows:
%1234567890123;
To strip the preamble and parse the 13-digit number only you would enter '2' in this field because you want the data that is encoded AFTER (i.e. to the right of) the delimiter/preamble/sentinel.
DeleteBegin ID Position (SAProfileDetails_BeginID1)
Enter the starting position of the ID number (Member ID or Xref) within the string. Leave this entry as the default of 1" if the ID number starts at the first character.
Alternate Example: Generally speaking you will leave this field at its default setting of '1.' However if you organization had an ID card number that was twenty-one characters in length and if the Member ID number were embedded within the card number and started at the 5th character position you would enter '5' in this field.
Note: This field comes into play after the Delimiter Logic has been run. You do not need to account for your delimiter/preamble/sentinel when determining your Beginning ID Position.
ID Length (SAProfileDetails_IDLength1)
Enter the length (in characters) of the ID number for the Swipe Option you are using. This is a literal value so the number you enter should be the exact number of digits in your ID Cards and/or Key Fobs. Numbers that do not meet or exceed the value entered here will be invalid.
For Example: You issue Key Fobs and use the Cross Reference field for the Swipe Option. The Key Fobs you issue contain an ID number that is 10-digits long. You would enter "10" in this field.
Enter '0' in this field to allow use of an unlimited number of digits OR to allow for IDs and Key Fobs of varying length.
For Example: You issue Key Fobs. Older Key Fobs have 5-digit numbers. Newer Key Fobs have 7-digit numbers. You would enter '0' in this field so that the system will know to look for varying length values.
DeleteBegin Lost Card Position (SAProfileDetails_BeginLostCard1)
This field is applicable only if using Lost Card logic.
Enter the starting/first position for the lost card entry in an ID Number.
For Example: You are using Member ID as your Swipe Option and you are using Lost Card logic. The ID number is '9' digits in length. To add the lost card entry to the end of the ID number you would enter '10' in this field.
Leave this field at '0' if:
- You ARE using Lost Card logic AND you use IDs numbers and/or Key Fobs of varying length
- You do not use Lost Card logic

DeleteLost Card Length (SAProfileDetails_LostCardLength1)
Enter the length (in characters) of the lost card value in this field.
For Example: Entering '2' would mean that you could enter lost card numbers up to 99 for each member.

Examples include, but are not limited to: %, $, ;l, etc….
DeleteMagnetic Stripe Track Number (SAProfileDetails_GCMagTrack)
This field is applicable only if you encode a GC Mag Stripe Delimiter.

Note: This field comes into play after the Delimiter Logic has been run. You do not need to account for your delimiter/preamble/sentinel when determining your Beginning GC Position.
GC Length (SAProfileDetails_GCLength)
Enter the length (in characters) of the Gift Certificate number on your Gift Certificate cards. Generally speaking, this will be a nine-digit number.
DeleteBegin PIN Position (SAProfileDetails_BeginGCPin)
Enter the starting/first position of the Gift Certificate PIN within the card number string.
For Example: If the PIN starts at the 7th position in the number string, you would enter '7' in this field.
Note: This field comes into play after the Delimiter Logic has been run. You do not need to account for your delimiter/preamble/sentinel when determining your Beginning PIN Position.
PIN Length (SAProfileDetails_GCPinLength)
Enter the length (in characters) of the Gift Certificate PIN on your Gift Certificate cards in this field.
DeleteGC- PIN Delimiter (SAProfileDetails_GCDelimiter)
Enter the Number-PIN Delimiter used on your Gift Cards. The delimiter tells the system where the Gift Card Number ends and where the Gift Card PIN begins
For Example: a gift card might be encoded with something, such as: %123456789$XYZ, where % is your GC Mag Stripe Delimiter (or preamble), '123456789' is the gift card number, '$' is the GC PIN delimiter, and 'XYZ' is the PIN. In this example, you would enter '$' in this field.
