The VIC profile is where settings for the Vermont Integration Client (VIC) are maintained. Options on the VIC Installation tab allow you to install and update VIC manually, if needed. Generally speaking, you should have one (1) VIC Service profile linked at the Default Level of Profile Hierarchy and separate VIC EXE profiles linked to workstations or user IDs as needed. Your needs may vary.

VIC allows you to utilize hardware peripherals on client workstations across your RecTrac network. VIC passes commands from RecTrac to hardware peripherals connected to the workstation. VIC needs to be installed on a per workstation basis via the RecTrac 3.1 application.
Note: In order for the workstation name to be resolved, you must have a VIC profile linked at the Default level in Profile hierarchy unless you are using Reverse DNS Lookup or passing the workstation name in the URL.
VSI-recommends linking a VIC profile configured for the VIC Service at the Default level of Profile hierarchy and then installing the VIC Service on all client machines. For users who need to run the VIC Executable to work with certain hardware devices or processes (i.e. the Topaz signature capture unit, ETS Credit Card Processing, etc), administrators should create VIC.EXE profiles and link these at either the User, User Group, or Workstation level in Profile Assignments. The VIC NONE profile can be linked to workstations or users that/who have no need of hardware, including printers, if desired.
Making changes to a profile is an Audited Event. Additionally, Linking, Removing, Purging, and Cloning profiles are also Audited Events.

VIC Startup Parameters (SAProfileDetails_VICStartupParameters)
This field displays your VIC program startup parameters and will be pre-filled based on your selection in the Set Default Path, Port and Startup Parameters … field.
Ensure the name of your RecTrac Server and VSINS1 NameServer are listed correctly in the field.
- You can use the Name or IP Address of the server on which your VIC AppServers are running.
- By default, your VSINS1 Name Server port will be 4032. Your configuration may vary.
- For Example: ConnectStr=https://192.0.65.124:4032/aia/Aiavic?AppService=VIClive&LPportRangeSSL=55130-55139&Routine=AppStart

VIC Ping Timeout (How often to check for VIC Connection) in Seconds (SAProfileDetails_VICPingTimeout)
Accept the default value (60) or overwrite as desired. The value you enter is the time (in seconds) between normal ping checks for VIC.
Upon sending a normal ping, the system waits 15 seconds for a response. If a response is registered, the VIC Hardware Connection icon remains green. If no response is registered, the system sends two (2) additional pings at 15 second intervals. If after the second ping, no response is registered, the VIC Hardware Connection icon will turn red.
In the event this field is set to zero (0), no ping requests will be sent from the browser to VIC, and the hardware icon will show Blue. Hardware will still work, but the browser will not be attempting to ping VIC to determine whether the connection exists.
DeleteDisplay the VIC (SAProfileDetails_DisplayExe)
This option is applicable only if you are running VIC as an .EXE.
Select this option to suppress the VIC processing screen/window if desired. When this option is enabled VIC will NOT appear as a running program on your computer's desktop. Rather VIC will appear in the Windows System Tray. To view VIC from the System Tray opt to "Show Hidden Icons" and click on Vermont Integration Client (VIC).
This option is applicable only if running VIC as an .exe. If you are running VIC as a Windows service the VIC processing screen is suppressed by design.
Note: When displaying the VIC.exe on the desktop clicking the 'X' does NOT exit the executable nor does it stop VIC from running. Clicking 'X' simply closes the display. VIC will still show as running in the System Tray. To Exit out of VIC and close the program click on the VIC icon in the System Tray and choose Exit.

Force VIC to be used to obtain workstation name, (May slow logon process). This does not override URL Workstation name method. (SAProfileDetails_VICAlwaysResolvesWkSt)
Select this option to bypass the logic that gets the workstation name via NSLookup and instead always use the VIC to get the workstation name. This provides an option to get a workstation name for the VIC for those customers who host their own primary DNS server.
De-select this option to have the VIC get the workstation name via NSLookup.
DeleteWindows VIC Deployment Server URL (SAProfileDetails_MSIVICDeploymentServer)
This field is for use with the Windows Installer installation and update process only.
This field displays your VIC Deployment Server URL information. It is case-sensitive. Generally speaking if you're using a LAN connection your Deployment Server URL will be the name of your WebServer and port. If you're using a WAN connection your Deployment Server URL will contain your department's Domain name and port.
- If you're creating a new VIC profile for a LAN connection overwrite <Server> with the name or IP Address of your RecTrac WebServer followed by ":4180." For Example: http://RecTrac_WebServer1:4180/VIC/exe/Windows/VSI_VIC_Setup.exe.
- If you're creating a new VIC profile for a WAN connection overwrite <Server> with the Domain Name for your department For Example: http://www.theparksatbedfordfalls.com/VIC/exe/Windows/VSI_VIC_Setup.exe.
If you use a port other than 4180 (http) or 443 (https) for patron access to your public facing website enter that port after your Domain Name. For Example: http://www.theparksatbedfordfalls.com:544/VIC/exe/Windows/VSI_VIC_Setup.exe.
