Use the Tournament Creator screen to copy qualifying teams from one or more regular season leagues into a new tournament league with proper seedings. Teams are qualified based on their scores during the regular season using the criteria you specify. Use the League Tournament Creator as a preliminary step in the creation of a single or double-elimination tournament.
The system handles the following scenarios:
- Tournament From Single Regular Season League - You have completed regular season and posted all scores for a league. At the end of the season, those teams play a double (or single) elimination tournament. Teams are copied to the tournament League with proper seeding.
- Tournament From Multiple Regular Season Leagues - You run three (3), softball leagues and at the end of the regular season you create an end-of-season double elimination tournament for the top two (2) teams from each league. This program transfers qualifying teams from these leagues into the tournament league with proper seeding.
To complete a tournament, you:
- Post all game scores for the regular season.
- Create a new league for the tournament. For Example: Your regular season league was Softball Coed, and you would create a new SoftBall Coed - Tournament league. (Easiest method is to clone the regular season league, adjust the name, change Schedule Type to Double Elimination, and then adjust the dates).
- Run this League Tournament Creator program, which copies teams from the regular season to the tournament league.
- Generate a schedule for the new tournament league using your choice of scheduler: Auto Schedule Generator, Matrix Schedule Generator, or Manual Schedule Generator.

Core Criteria
Leagues (LSLeague_LeagueCode_DataGrid)
Specify the league or leagues to include. You can select leagues using one or a combination of the following options (DataGrid, League Range, Wildcard, and League Begin/End Dates). When multiple selection options are used, it is additive. For example, you might use a range to select consecutive league codes (SoftballCoedA, SoftballCoedB, and SoftballCoedC), and then the DataGrid to select a league with a non-consecutive code.
The Leagues DataGrid lists all the leagues currently established in your system that you have Permissions to view.
Highlight/select the individual leagues you want to include in your Tournament. Multiple selection is allowed.
DataGrid column sort options allow you to customize the view as desired. Click here for a full description of RecTrac DataGrids.
DeleteUse League Range (LSLeague_LeagueCode_UseRange)
This field appears in numerous programs. Its functionality may vary.
Select this option to use limit your selection to a range of leagues.
THEN
Enter the range.
OR
Leave this option deselected to skip this check and make selections from the DataGrid if applicable.
- If there is a DataGrid for this program - In instances where you have a DataGrid and corresponding range a selection in one or the other (or both) is required. Selecting nothing from the DataGrid and nothing from the range yields a blank report or process.
- If there is not a DataGrid for this program - In instances where you don't have a DataGrid a selection here is not required. Leaving this option deselected skips this filter and results in all codes being included.

THEN

DeleteWildCard Option (LSLeague_LeagueCode_Equals_Option)
Select your Wildcard Option for this process:
- Equals - The process will return a list of all records that equal the value entered. This must be an exact match. For Example: If this was a list of Family Members, entering 'Grace Somersby' would find 'Grace Somersby' because it is an exact match, but it would NOT find 'Grace J. Somersby' because it is not an exact match.
Note: When running Reports you can use a comma-delimited list (with no spaces) in the corresponding Wildcard field when your Wildcard Option is Equals. This applies to Reports only. For Example: Entering "48116 5851 88003" in a Zip Code Wildcard field on a Report and using the Equals Option would yield results from those three separate Zip Codes.
- Begins - The process will return a list of all records that begin with the value entered. Wildcarding asterisks/periods are not needed. For Example: If this was a list of Family Members entering 'Gr' would find all members whose name begins with 'Gr ' such as Grace Somersby but it would NOT find Ginny Weasley because her name begins with 'Gi.'
- Ends - The process will return a list of all records that end with the value entered. Wildcarding asterisks/periods are not needed. For Example: If this was a list of Family Members entering 'by' would find all members whose name ends with 'by ' such as Grace Somersby but it would NOT find Sam McGee because his name ends with 'ee.'
- Matches - The process will return a list of all records where a value match can be found. Wildcarding and asterisks/periods must be used. For Example: If this was a list of Family Members entering '*om*' (asterisks must be included) would find Grace Somersby and Tom Sawyer because "om" appears in both names but it would NOT find Felicity Lemon because "om" does not appear anywhere in her name.
