Solution
When entering text for the Brochure Text or Comment Text, ensure it’s not copied and pasted from a PDF or MS Word Doc, especially if the text has special characters. Often, there is HTML code hidden in the text that isn't in proper syntax and running over into the RecTrac browser Interface causing it to break.
In this specific case, the error prevented the user from opening the Section Update screen to manually remove the Brochure Text that was saved to the record. If this is the case, you must use DBedit with help from VS Support to fix it.
Note: It is best practice to copy from a PDF or MS Word, paste into a TXT file, then copy and paste from the TXT file into RecTrac. You may also need to type out or re-enter all special characters (i.e. Apostrophes, Quotation Marks, ect.) along with ensuring HTML is coded properly if applicable.
Steps For Solution
- Contact VS Support.
- Go to DBedit with VS Access Code provided by VS Support or with a VS Support Technician present.
- Go to the proper DB table.
- For Example with Activity Section Brochure Text, use the ARSection table.
- Search for the Activity Number in the Query using PrimaryCode="Your Record Code Here"
- Find the section in question from the DataGrid.
- Delete the content in Brochure Text.
Reopen Activity Section Management and attempt to update the section in question. You should now be able to access the Section Update screen without error. The Brochure Text field will now be blank and you can reenter the Brochure Text using best practices to strip the hidden HTML.
