3.1 An item on WebTrac has no Description, but the item has Short and Long Descriptions in RecTrac
Problem
An item on WebTrac 3.1 has no Description, but the Short and Long Descriptions are filled in under the respective management area in RecTrac.
Solution
This is likely the result of an invalid or blank Language Code in RecTrac 10.3 that was converted to RecTrac 3.1.
When you were using 10.3, a unique phrase was linked to the Item Description using the Language Code shortcut of CTRL+L. The phrase was either blank or the Language Code became invalid. When it was converted to 3.1, the blank/invalid Language Code was brought over. The system is attempting to read the invalid Language Code and thus is displaying nothing.
In your 3.1 database, perform the following:
1. Go to DBEdit (Management Ribbon > System Management > Misc Management group). You will need an Access Code from VSI.
2. Find the ID of the item missing a description using the DB Editor utility. Query the table of the item (ARSection, PSTicketMain, FRFacility), find the item. Note the ID number.
3. Query the SALanguageField table with the query: PARENTID = 'xxxxxxxx' - where xxxxxxxx is the 8-digit ID of the item noted in the previous step.
4. Delete any phrases found. With the number of characters allowed in short and long descriptions in 3.1, these specific phrases are not needed any longer.
5. Save your changes.
