10.3 and 3.1 Error message on VS-Hosted WebTrac: "You do not have permissions to perform this action."
Default Subject
Problem
Patron is attempting to use a WebTrac website that is hosted by Vermont Systems and gets an message stating they do not have permission to perform this action. The exact error message is, "You do not have permissions to perform this action" [Site: WEB1.VERMONTSYSTEMS.COM,Source IP XX.XXX.XXX.XX, WD-ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]."
Solution
The error is likely the result of Vermont Systems Hosted Services enabling the Web Application Firewall (WAF) on March 31, 2020. The patron has somehow violated one of the new security policies. Create a Case with Support. We will see if there is an explanation for this violation. Meanwhile, talk to the patron and confirm they are not using any special characters, either in free form or in password fields. Special characters might be interpreted as a malice attempt to hit WebTrac.
Steps For Solution
- Find out exact steps the customer was doing in WebTrac. Documenting the URL and the entire process is critical so that an attempt can be made to reproduce the patron's experience.
- Create case with Support.
- Vermont Systems hosting or development to investigate.
