Inserting a patron's WebTrac ID and PIN (WEBID and WEBPIN tags) in RecConnect 3.1
Problem
I am going to send out a mass email about an upcoming activity. Under 10.3 I could right click in the body and select WEBID, WEBPIN so everyone would have their username and password. Is there a way I can do that in 3.1?
Solution
Yes and No.
Yes you can insert a tag for 'Household Web ID' ( [a WEBID] tag ) into RecConnect emails.
No, you cannot include the patron's WebTrac PIN. The WEBPIN tag functionality was kept out of RecTrac 3.1 (and removed from RecTrac 10.3y02 and greater) in order to comply with industry standard Username/Password security protocols.
To Insert a Patron's WebTrac User Name into a RecConnect Email
From the RecConnect Results screen.
1. Select the Process Email option.
2. Expand the Email Options group.
3. Enter your text in the Email Body field.
4. When you get to the point where you want to include the patron's WebTrac User ID, go the Add Tag field immediately below the Email Body field.
5. Put your cursor in Add Tag field and type 'House.' Scroll down through the Household option. Stop at 'Household Web ID' and click Add Tag to Email Body. This will insert a [WEBID] tag into your email.
6. Consider mentioning that patron's who have forgotten their password can click your 'Forgotten Password' link in WebTrac, itself, if needed. This puts in motion WebTrac's password recovery logic, whereby a temporary password is generated, the patron is sent an email containing a secure link to the password and is then prompted to change it upon login.
7. Complete your email and make any other selections that you need to.
8. Click Process RecConnect when ready.
