3.1 RecTrac and WebTrac are down after update to Progress 11.7.2
Default Subject
Problem
Updated Progress to 11.7.2. Client is down and server is down. Able to access local host now. Clients cannot reach server. Server has been restarted. Server is stopped; customer is trying to truncate database bi file. Error "A running database was found in database directory please stop database and try again," even though the database is stopped.
Solution
To Resolve the RecTrac Problem
- I copied a back-up database from <x>:\copy-livedata\ to <x>:\vsi3\retrac\data\live\
-
Did an Index Rebuild All Fast Method:
- proutil <path to db> -C idxbuild ALL -TB 24 -TM 32 -B 1000 -SG 64
-
Truncated the BI
- proutil <path to db> -C truncate bi
- Started the Database and Client Live in OpenEdge Explorer and was able to log into RecTrac without any errors pertaining to mismatched versions.
- Did a query against VSIScreenDef table for version gt "3.1.07.04." There were none, meaning that screen data did not load properly for 3.1.08.00.
- Browsed to H:\jasonvv on the VSI Network.
- Copied the "Load XML Data Program" directory to the FTP site.
- From there, I copied the folder to the customer's desktop.
- Copied the "XMLLoad v3 Live Shortcut" and the "XMLLoader.r" program to <x>:\vsi3\rectrac\programs.
-
Then I edited the Target line of the shortcut to this:
- D:\VSI3\Progress\DLC117\bin\prowin.exe -db D:\vsi3\RecTrac\data\live\RecTrac D:\VSI3\RecTrac\Programs\XMLLoad.r -ininame "D:\VSI3\RecTrac\ini\RecTracv3.ini" -pf "D:\VSI3\RecTrac\ini\RecTracv3.pf"
-
Then I edited the Start In field to this:
- D:\VSI3\Progress\DLC117
-
Next I launched the icon as Administrator by right-clicking on it and selecting Run as Administrator.
- I browsed to the desktop and selected the VSIData_3.1.08.00.xml and let it run.
- Once it was complete, I did a query against VSIScreenDef table for version gt 3.1.08.00. There was data to match the version.
- I launched the icon again as Administrator and browsed to the desktop and selected the VSIData_3.1.08.04.xml and let it run.
- Once it was complete, I did a query against VSIScreenDef table for version gt 3.1.08.04 there was data to match the version.
- Next I grabbed the postupdate.r from our network (L:\RecTrac\3\1\_Deployment_Backup\Update3.1.08.00\Business) and downloaded that to the customer from our FTP site.
- I logged into RecTrac 3.1 to make sure the AppServers were running and went to the Quick Fix Processor program, selected the "postupdate.r" file and ran it.
- I reviewed the Audit Log and saw a number of programs had been run. These are:
UpdateMenusAndScreens
RosterMemorizer
RebuildARSASearchIndex3
CreateMTUnitRecords
RebuildSASASearchIndex
UpdateCYARLinks
To Resolve the WebTrac Problem
After update to Progress 11.7 everything looked good but when trying to access WebTrac, we were getting this message returned to the screen:
"502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server."
There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server."
- I copied the <x>:\vsi3\rectrac\webserver\web folder to the desktop, and then uninstalled RecTrac 3.1 files and Progress 11.7 files.
- I had to install the ARR software, too.
- Next I reinstalled and then reconfigured WebTrac server.
- I had to change the config.ini file too on the RecTrac server.
