Adding a document link to the WebTrac menu
RecTrac 3.1.10.18.00
Table of Contents
Problem
We have a PDF of new department policies and upcoming events we want to showcase. How can I add a link to the WebTrac menu that will take our patrons directly to this PDF?
Solution
Note: This is could be a PDF located on the web or an internal document.
For PDFs on the web, you will use the existing URL.
For an internal document, this would need to be uploaded to your WebTrac server. In the images folder (VSI3\RecTrac\WebServer\WEB\images). This will publish the PDF on the web for you to create the link.
Once you know the url link to your image (internal or external) place the full URL in the ButtonProgram in the search button on your WebTrac menu.
Steps For Solution
- Upload PDF document to Webserver
- Alternatively, locate the document on an existing website (i.e Your city's site)
- Go to WebTrac Menu Management
- Highlight the NextGen Default Menu from the DataGrid
- Click Change
- Drag and drop a Generic_CustomButton from the left column to your desired location within the menu in the middle column
- Highlight the Generic_CustomButton in the middle column
- Click Advanced Field Parameters
- Update FieldLabel with desired wording (i.e New Department Policies)
- Replace the value in ButtonProgram with URL of the PDF location (i.e. https://web1.myvscloud.com/images/MyCity/Document.pdf)
- Click Save
- Click Done
- Click Clear All Cache
- Toggle on WebTrac cache
- Click Continue
Once the WebTrac screen cache clears, navigate back to your WebTrac site. The menu should now include your custom link to your PDF.
