Welcome to the 3.1 rule migration video. Rules are a core concept of RecTrac. And they control everything from who can register, enroll or purchase items in your database, but also who can cancel and other transaction types as well. Most of your rules from 10.3 will carry over, and there are very few required steps after your migration, we will review the rule concept and address a common registration date scenario with activities. For more detailed rules setup info, we recommend watching the 3.1 rule video. Rules will come over in most cases to the lowest level and RecTrac. So in our example, I'm going to go to the lowest level for the activity module, which is activity section management. So from my menu, I'm launching activity section management. And I will use the same program from an earlier example my youth level three swim lessons. When I double Click on that section and Click on the Rules tab at the top. I currently only have one rule or one restriction when it comes to enrolling for this program. So right now, this carried over from 10.3, if I want to open that up, kind of clearly states that it's for ages 6 through 16. And the criteria itself kind of defines the 6 through 16.99. At the bottom right. I open up that criteria, you'll see this or any individual enrolling that starts 6 years old, through 16.99 to including all 16 year olds. If you meet this age requirement, as of in this case, the beginning date, the item, the section in this case, then you would be able to enroll into this program. So the rule itself is allowing you to purchase if you meet, in this case that one piece of criteria. So all age rules will carry over from your settings in 10.3. But there's one key piece of information that's kind of missing here. With most programs, you'd like a registration date restriction, so I can only register between this date and another date. By default registration dates do not come over during the migration. And the main reason for this is that they would come over at the lowest level and there's typically a better way to handle and set up your registration dates with the new 3.1 options. We'll review that setup in the next video.
