Welcome to Fast Track. In this video we will be covering the setup of the Star TSP 100 in RecTrac 3.1. For help setting up the printer itself, please refer to the Star TSP 100 setup in Windows video. For help with VIC, please refer to our VIC topic document. The first step would be to ensure VIC is connected. In the top right hand corner of RecTrac. There is a VIC connection status icon that should read connected. The second step would be to create a printer Profile unique to this printer. To do so you'll need to open Profile assignments by searching for it in your menu, or by navigating to it through management system management Profile assignments. On the left hand side, Click the Add Button. Enter a Profile code similar to the printers name and Windows. Set the Profile Type to printer. Set the Profile subtype to printer. Set the printer status to active. Enter a Profile description similar to the Profile code or printer name. Click Create when finished. This will create the printer Profile and reveal two new fields. In the Windows printer slash path name you have the following two options to connect the printer printer name where you will enter the printer name exactly as it appears in the printer properties which can be found through the Windows devices and printers or the printer path. Enter the printer path for network printers by entering the print server or workstation name, followed by the printer name. The correct syntax for this Field is whack whack workstation name whack printer name. The dupe printer code is only used when a second printer would be printing a second receipt from another printer. The common use for this is when kitchens get a second receipt with orders to be filled. Either leave this Field blank or enter a dupe printer code that will also be tied to the inventory items being sold. Click Save when finished. The third step in this process would be to link the printer Profile to the workstation and assign the printer a printer function in the center area where it's labeled linked profiles. Expand the workstation area by clicking the arrow locate the name of the PC that you're setting this printer up for. On the left hand side under available profiles. Locate the printer Profile outlined in step two, Click and drag it over to the workstation name in the center. When ready to link the box will go green. Release the mouse to link the printer. This will prompt a way to choose how to link the printer to our workstation. This is like assigning the purpose of what the printer will be used for on this computer. You can select more than one option here. The two options would be considering for the Star TSP 100 would be the printer 40 column option or the printer author receipt option. The printer 40 column option will be to link the printer as a dedicated receipt printer that is used to print the smaller receipts. The printer Auth receipt option will link the printer that will print out authorization receipts for credit card transactions. The fourth and final step in this process will be to test the printer. To do so reboot the workstation. Log into RecTrac and see if the printer works.
