10.3 and 3.1 New USB SmartJ Prox reader configuration
Problem
Could you help me install the IBC reader?
Solution
To configure the USB IBC SproxJ reader to read proximity cards:
1 Download the USB Driver first from IBC - http://www.internationalbarcode.com/software.htm.
2 Select the USB Drivers for the corresponding operating system.
3 Install the unknown device in Windows from Device Manager.
4 Then download the 716 Utility from IBC - http://www.internationalbarcode.com/software/716v0199.zip.
5 Extract all files and run the setup.exe. Run this utility from the IBC folder on the Start menu.
6 Match settings on the Communications Settings screen with the port number and speed that is showing in Windows Device Manager for the port.
7 Click Terminal Mode.
8 Type the following (Don't type the commas. Enter = the enter key. The unit should beep after each enter keystroke.

F10, 642600, enter,
F10.
9 Scan a proximity card and its data should appear in the Terminal Mode window.
10 Set up a new INPUT serial device in RecTrac (subtype is Serial).
11 Select the correct COM Port. Hardware CTL Enable. Baud 9600. Parity None. Word Length Eight. Stop Bits One. Swipe Preamble is blank. Check on Strip Preamble from Swipe. Swipe Postamble None. Check on Strip Postamble from Swipe. Min Swipe Length 1 Max Swipe Length 20.
12 Save changes and link device appropriately.
13 Log out and log back in to RecTrac. May also need to restart appservers.
