10.3 and 3.1 Trouble installing an Ithaca 280 on a Windows 10 workstation
Problem
Issues with an Ithaca Itherm 280 / 610 printer on windows 10:
This Device cannot Start. (Code 10)
{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful
Solution
The iTherm 280 printer can be used in Windows 10 as a USB printer, PROVIDED the printer was manufactured in June 2009 or later.
If your printer is from June 2009 or later, then:
1. Change the USB Mode in the configuration of the printer to USB Printer only and save. Refer to the printer's User Manual.
2. After saving, you MUST remove the power cord physically for at least one (1) minute. Then plug the unit back in. This will update the daughter card (USB interface) with the USB Printer Only setting.
3. Plug the USB in between Printer and PC. Windows 10 will assign a USB port.
4. Install the Windows driver on this port. Refer to attached instructions.
5. Make sure you can print through Windows before attempting to print from RecTrac.
To verify the hardware date on your printer:
1. There is a sticker on the bottom of the printer. It marks the Month/Year it was manufactured. The letter (A - L) corresponds to the calendar month (Jan - Dec) and the last two digits are the year. For Example: A09 is January, 2009 and F13 is June, 2013.
