Problem
How do you setup and display charts?
How do you make a splash page from charts?
Solution
Important Note: Charts are generated from a report's Summary Output and the chart data comes from the subtotal data in the report.
1 In Report Output Maintenance, run (or create) a report output (must be a Summary output) that you want to make a chart out of.
2 Choose the report selection criteria, choose Summary, and select PDF output. Verify that you have the subtotal data including labels that you want to make the chart out of.
3 When the PDF data is correct, run the report again and choose Chart as the Output Type and click Schedule.
4 In Scheduled Events Management, verify the schedule settings.
5 Go to Chart Maintenance and click Add. Create a Chart, choosing the Chart Type, Refresh Interval, and link to the Chart Report Schedule (from steps 3-4).
6 Go to Menu Management and create or update a menu for your Design.
a) In the Fields on the Screen (center) column, identify where you want the Chart to appear (for example, on the Home Tab).
b) In the Available Fields column, click Options and Close All Groups. Open the Field Type Group and drag and drop a Generic Button to the Home Tab in the Fields on the Screen column.
c) Next, open the Field Type Group and drag and drop a Generic Group to the Button you just created on the Home Tab.
d) Next, open the Field Type Chart and drag and drop a Generic Chart to the Group you just created on the Home Tab.
e) Highlight the chart and click the Advanced Field Parameters button in the right column. Select the ChartLinkID and at minimum, enter a field label, height and width. Click Save.
7 Logout and log back in.
8 Adjust menu button sizes, labels, colors as necessary.
