10.3 and 3.1 Defining the Difference Between Full and Partial Household Merges
Problem
What is the difference between a Full Household Merge and a Partial Household Merge?
Solution
Regardless of the RecTrac version you're running, the Household Transfer/Merge program provides two (2) merge options: Full Merge and Partial Merge.
Full Merge allows you to consolidate two (2) households into one (1). When you complete a Full Merge, the 'From' household is removed from the database when the process completes. Reasons for performing a Full Merge include, but are not limited to, combining two existing households due to a marriage of Primary Guardians and merging a household that exists twice in the database.
Partial Merge allows you to move selected Family Members from one household to another while keeping both households in the database. Reasons for using this option include, but are not limited to, transferring a family member added to a wrong household to the right household, moving a family member from one household to another due to such circumstances as a change in Primary Guardian, and having the same family member entered on the same household multiple times with different names (i.e FM 3 "John Smith" and FM 5 "Johnny Smith").
