3.1 Resume Old Session or Start New Session?
Problem
When I login to RecTrac 3.1, I am getting a rectangle on the screen titled 'Resume Old Session or Start New Session.' The Session Selection drop down list has several dates/times listed, plus an option to <>.
What does this mean? How should I answer? What happens if I answer wrong?
Solution
Every time you login to RecTrac or WebTrac 3.1, you start a new session. While you are logged in, your session is active.
If you logout normally, your session ends.
If you timeout (being idle for an extended period of time), your session ends.
If you walk away from a computer where you are logged in, and try to login at another computer, the first session will show in the list until it times out.
If you close the web browser without logging out, your session will remain in the open state until it times out.
When you login to RecTrac and get the message you are seeing, it means you have one or more unfinished/open sessions that were left hanging. The list is comprised of the dates/times of all your open sessions. You can choose to resume an open session by selecting one of those dates/times. There is no 'wrong' answer per se, but if you never resume the open sessions, you will keep getting that list at login until the open sessions time out.
The recommended option would be to choose an open session, finish what you were doing, and simply logout using the X at the top right of the screen next to your username.
You can do this multiple times, if desired, to close any of your open sessions.
An alternate way to close open sessions is:
1 Go to Management > System Management > Session Management.
2 The top datagrid are open RecTrac sessions. Sort by Last Active Date and Last Active Time.
3 If you see any suspected abandoned sessions and are sure that the user in question has logged out, you can highlight that row and click the Close Session button.
To adjust time out settings for both RecTrac and WebTrac.
1 Go to Management > System > Profile Assignments.
2 On the bottom left, click the Static Parameters button.
3 Click on Session Cleaner Settings to open the group.
4 The left column has your time out settings for RecTrac. The right column has your timeout settings for WebTrac. All timeout settings are in minutes. Adjust to your liking.
5 Click Save.
