How to Filter Data Records in RecTrac 3.1 Datagrids
Problem
What are all the ways you can filter data in RecTrac 3.1 datagrids?
Solution
Most columns in RecTrac Datagrids support filtering. The type of column (i.e. the data displayed) determines the filtering options. The top right-hand corner of the Datagrid displays the current number of records being displayed.
To clear filters and reset your Datagrid to its default setting, click Options on the upper left-hand corner of the Datagrid and select Clear Filters.
The types of filters are:
-- Alpha/Numeric Drop-down Filter - Allows you to enter letters or numbers. Pressing the key filters the column by your entry. By default, the Alpha/Numeric Drop-down filters by 'Begins With.' Expand the Drop-down list to select from other filter options.
-- Begins With - Filters by records that start with the value you entered.
-- Equals - Filters by records that exactly match the value you entered.
-- Less Than - Filters by records that start with a value less than the one entered.
-- Greater Than - Filters by records that start with a value greater than the one entered.
-- Less Than or Equal - Filters by records that start with a value equal to or less than the one entered.
-- Greater Than or Equal - Filters by records that start with a value equal to or greater than the one entered.
-- Contains - Filters by records that start contain the value entered. The example above displays the Short Description column filtered by the Contain value using 'aerobics.'
-- Combo Box Filter - Provides a fixed set of criteria from which you may pick. The Status column is filtered by a Combo Box filter.
-- Picklist Filter - Allows you to start typing so Auto-complete can engaged the filter. Optionally, you can click the Picklist icon to select from all options you have Permissions to view OR you can add a new record on the fly, if desired (and if you have applicable Permissions.) The Category column is filtered by a Picklist filter.
-- Date Filter - Allows you to filter by date. You can enter a date manually or click the icon and choose from the Calendar.
-- Time Filter - Allows you to filter by time. You can enter a time manually or click the icon and choose from the Clock.
