What is a Model Household and how is it Used in RecTrac 3.1?
Problem
In the Daily Processing Profile, I see the term 'Model Household.' What is a Model Household and how/where is it used in RecTrac 3.1?
Solution
In the Daily Processing Profile, you are required to select the household(s) you wish to use as the 'Model Household' for each Module. Multiple selections are allowed per module.
Model Households are used to set default search and display parameters in RecTrac in order to increase Daily Processing, Visit Processing, SuperGrid Processing and Touch Processing speeds when entering a specific module or switching between them. Once a Model Household is selected, the system will base search and display parameters off the settings in various fields on that household based on your criteria. In WebTrac, a Model Household will also be used to display default Prices.
For Example: if the household you select has a Non-Resident Fee Code, and you have search/display parameters based on Residency, the default parameters for the module you are working in will be set for Non-Residents. If you have two (2) households selected, one Resident and one Non-Resident, then both Price options will display.
Keep in mind that these are default values only and are used to load RecTrac screens during processing functions. The household you select can be a bona-fide household in your database or a 'dummy' household created specifically for this purpose. Selecting a bona-fide household will have no operational impact on it. You can use the same household in every Model Household field, if desired.
Note: In the event you change the household selected in this field, VSI recommends going to Scheduled Events Management and manually run the Search Index Build event. The program will rebuild Search Indexes based off the settings of the new household you've selected. In the standard VSI Design,
Scheduled Events Management is located in the VSI Design under Management Ribbon > System Management > Misc Management Group.
