3.1 Changing the Default Field Value Settings on DataGrids
Problem
I need help customizing some of the DataGrids to show Inactive households by default. The current default is to show Active households only. How do I do this?
Solution
This is done by creating a Custom Lookup Screen for the DataGrid in question in Processing Screen Management and editing the FilterValue Field Parameter to display the only the values you choose. This feature was introduced in RecTrac 3.1.05.02 and allows for customization of default Filter Values.
One common use case is the ability to filter the Module selections that defaults in the Global Sales Purchase History tab. By default, this DataGrid displays a Household's Purchase History for every module. However, you might wish to omit certain items from displaying. For Example: Your Department processes a lot of Pass Visits. You might use this feature to 'turn off' the Pass Visits (PMV) selection option from displaying by default, so when you go into a Household's Purchase History, the resulting default DataGrid is not overly populated with Pass Visit History records.
In your case, you wish to have certain Household DataGrids show Inactive Households by default as opposed to Active Households. To do this, you would edit the Status FilterValue on the Lookup Screen in question and select 'Inactive' as the value. Optionally, you could select 'Active' and 'Inactive' (or any combination). Upon saving changes, the selection(s) you make will be your new Default View for that DataGrid.
Basic instruction is provided below and uses the Global Sales Household Lookup DataGrid as the example.
1. Go to Processing Screen Management. You will continue to the Processing Screen Maintenance Start screen. Click Add.
2. Select GlobalSalesLookup as your Processing Screen to Add and click Continue.
3. In the 'Fields on Screen' panel, expand GlobalSalesLookup_Group 3 (DataGrid) Household DataGrid (DataGrid).
4. Highlight/select Status (ComboBox). THEN click Advanced Field Parameters in the Field Parameters panel.
5. Click the Combo Box icon for FilterValue and make your selections. For purposes of this example, you would select 'Inactive.'
6. Click Save to return to the previous screen.
7. Click Preview to look at your changes or click Save.
8. Changes take effect immediately and will be realized upon a user's next entry to Global Sales Household Lookup DataGrid.
Step-by-step instruction for further customization can be found in Topic Doc - Basic Screen Customization.
