What is the purpose of the NONE Profiles (3.1) and Devices (10.3)?
Question
We recently upgraded to a newer version of 3.1 and notice that we have 'NONE' profiles types. What are those for and what should we do with them?
Answer
NONE Profile Types are found in the Profile Assignments screen only. By default, they system contains a NONE profile for each Profile type. This allows you to link a production profile lower in the Hierarchy and link the 'NONE' option for that profile higher in the Hierarchy for Users/User Group and/or Workstation that do not need the production version.
For example, you might have a Peripherals profile linked to a workstation that is set up to 'pop' a cash drawer with each sale. However, there is a certain user who shouldn't be allowed to 'pop' that drawer. You could link 'NONE' Peripherals profile to that user. When performing a sale, the cash drawer wouldn't 'pop' for that user.

Note: The same feature exists in RecTrac 10.3 and previous. <NONE> Device types are available in Device Assignments and serve the same purpose as described for 3.1
