10.3 and 3.1 Increasing the School Grade of Family Members
Problem
Why doesn't RecTrac automatically update a child's school grade every year to match his or her age?
Solution
RecTrac does not update a child's school grade to match his/her age because there is no direct correlation between the two numbers. Birthdays occur throughout the year and school typically begins in the fall. For Example: A six year-old girl in 1st grade who has a birthday in April will not move into 2nd grade on the day she turns seven. Rather, she will enter 2nd grade the following fall when school starts.
To accommodate this, RecTrac provides a Grade Bump program. The Grade Bump program will increase the grade of every family member by one (1), provided the family member's grade is greater than 0. The Grade Bump program should be run once per calendar year ONLY. Generally speaking, VSI recommneds running this program in the Fall just before school resumes, though you may opt to run it in the Spring immediately after the school year ends.
In RecTrac 10.3 and prevous, go to Period End > System > Grade Bump.
Enter a Maximum Grade To Use and click Process.
Use F1 for field descriptions and examples.
In RecTrac 3.1, go to Household Management > Grade Bump/Reduction.
Use the 'i' and '?' Help for field descriptions and examples.
