Question
Can RecTrac Charge Fees based off the way a patron answers a question?
Answer
RecTrac has the ability to link a Yes or No type question to each Manually Prompted fee so that choosing to charge the fee answers the questions as YES and choosing not to charge the fee answers the question as a NO.
Steps For Solution
- Create a manual prompted fee.
- Go to the item (activity section, for example) where the fee will best apply and click "Add New" in the fees tab.
- Create the fee. Use the question you'd like to ask as the Description. For example, "Do you want a T-Shirt? They cost $16."
- Click the stylus icon next to the fees to open up the InLine editing. In the Fee Group column, click the up-down arrow to open the picklist.
- With the picklist is open, click Add to create a new fee group. Name the fee group something that relates to the fees in question.
- Make sure to check off the prompt for fees during add to cart box, so that the fees will prompt when the item is purchased.
- In the Max Fees to be Selected field, enter any value greater than 1.
- Leave the Min Fees to be Selected value at '0,' unless the patron needs to pick one of the fees in the fee group.
- Save the group and select it to be used on the fee.
- When selling his item, the fee will prompt for an answer when it is added to the Shopping Cart.
- Create a Checkbox Question on the item: The next step is to create the question that you want answered when the fee is selected. On the same item where the fee was added, go the questions tab. Click add, and enter the question into the question text box. Set it to trigger on purchase, and put the field type to checkbox. This makes it a yes/no question (which is the only type of question you'll want to use in this scenario). Make the answer required by checking off the box: Save your work, and apply the question to the item.
- Link the Question to the fee in advanced Fee change Now go back to the fee you created in the form of a question, click on it once to highlight it, and then click advanced fee change. In the miscellaneous settings drop-down, click on the up-down arrow to trigger the picklist for the questionlinkID field: Select the question you just created. What this does is answer that question "yes" when this fee is selected. For example, when the "Is your shirt a small" fee is prompted when selling the "fee prompt test" item, and it gets selected to be charged, it answers yes to the question linked in the questionlinkID field. The whole workflow looks like this: When making a sale of the fee prompt test item, the prompted fees disguised as questions pop up: Now, when selecting the "is your shirt a small" fee, it will auto-answer the "is your shirt a small" question that was added to the item and linked to the fee in the questionlinkID field. The stats for the answers to the questions are reportable using the VSI Question Statistics report.
