Quick Guide to Installing Next Gen VIC EXE
RecTrac 3.1
Table of Contents
Before you begin:
Must be on RecTrac 3.1.10.17.00 or higher. Windows 10 and Windows 11 only.
VS recommends downloading VIC from the VIC profile when possible.
Install or Update to Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8 or higher on each PC that will get VIC.
VS recommends Chrome as the preferred browser when using RecTrac w/ VIC. Log into the PC as an administrator.
Questions to ask before installation:
Is your RecTrac application’s URL in the office connecting on an https connection?
No, Skip to next question.
Yes, Download thevsivicCA.cer from sftp://sftp.vermontsystems.com and then File Updates and Drivers > RecTrac > 3.1 > vsivicCA > vsivicCA.cer

No, Skip to next section.
Yes, Contact Vermont Systems support to discuss installing VIC Service to meet that need.
Installing the vsivicCA.cer (Applicable if you answered YES to the https question; otherwise skip to next section)
Click the Windows Key + R to bring up the run prompt.
Enter “MMC.exe”(no quotes) Select File>Add/Remove Snap-in… Select “Certificates," Add>.
Select Computer account, Next > Finish > OK.
On left expand >”Certificates”(Local Computer).
On left expand > “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” folder.
Right-click on the “Certificates” folder beneath the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities “and select All Tasks > Import….
Click Next.
Click Browse… (Browse to where you downloaded the vsivicCA.cer) select it. Click Open.
Click Next, Click Next, Click Finish, Click OK on the “The import was successful.” Message.
Exit and select No when asked to asked to “Save console settings to Console1?”
Installing Next Gen VIC EXE:
Download our VIC Installation application (https://apps1.myvscloud.com/VIC/EXE/Windows/VSI_VIC_Setup.exe).
Right-click the VSI_VIC_Setup.exe select “Run as Administrator” Click Next and accept all the default settings.
*Repeat the installing steps on each PC that will use VIC to communicate before moving onto Editing the VIC Profile to use Next Gen VIC EXE Section.
Editing the VIC Profile to use NextGen VIC EXE
Log in to RecTrac
Go to Profile Assignments.
Remove all the VIC profiles that could be under Linked Profiles Area for any User, User Group or Workstation Go to Defaults >Default Profiles
Scroll down and select the VIC profile. Click Update.
Change the Set Default Path to RecTrac |HTTP|EXE or RecTrac|HTTPS|EXE (depending on your answer to the HTTPS question).
Edit the Port Values of65XXX-65XXX in the VIC Startup Parameters to 55XXX-55XXX Edit the VIC Connection Port from 65XXX to55XXX.
(X’s represent numbers that do not need to be changed.)
*VS Hosted Customer, Please enable the Force VIC option. Non-Hosted VS Customers, please verify Reverse DNS is enabled on your network or Enable the FORCE VIC option if you are unsure.
