Problem
We have private swim lessons that are usually limited to a maximum enrollment of 1, but we would like to allow a single family to bring two children. How can we set this up so only one household can enroll in each private lesson, but allow them to enroll 2 or more children?
Solution
For this setup, we're going to need to set the maximum enrollment on the section to the number of children that are allowed from the single-family, and we'll need to add two Allow rules that are linked with a Rule Group (also known as an Or Group).
The first rule will limit enrollment to a single person across all households, while the second rule will only allow registration if 2 or more family members are enrolled at the same time. In conjunction, they will allow this scenario to work. See the steps for resolution below for specifics.
Steps For Solution
To create the first rule that limits enrollment to a single household:
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Activity Section Management.
- From the DataGrid, highlight the section.
- Click Change.
- Set the Overall Max Count to 2 (or more, if you would like to allow 3 or more family members to enroll in the private lesson).
- Click on the Rules tab.
- Click Add > Add Rule to create the first rule.
- Give your rule a Description that indicates this will limit all households to a single enrollment.
- Set Rule Option to Allow.
- Select a Rule Group.
- If you have multiple rules on your section that use Or Groups, select an Or Group number that is not currently in use.

To create the second rule that allows multiple family members from a single household to enroll:
- Click Add > Add Rule to create the second rule
- Give your rule a Description that indicates this will allow enrollment in a single household if two family members are added at the same time.
- Set Rule Option to Allow.
- Select the same Rule Group that was selected in the above step 9.
- Under the Other Criteria dropdown, select Advanced.
- Click Add New Criteria.
- Set the Advanced Criteria as follows:
- Set Entity to Household/Organization.
- Set Operator to More Than or Equal to.
- Set Value to match the value of the Overall Max Count set in the above step 4.
