Punch per Service Item Punch Passes

Punch per Service Item Punch Passes allow patrons to purchase Service Items as a result of the Punch Pass being swiped during Visit Processing. When Punch per Service Item Punch Pass is swiped, it will result in the sale of linked Service Item(s), such as Greens Fees, Range Balls, etc…. The number and type of Service Item(s) purchased to determine the number of punches deducted at the time of the visit.
Generally speaking, this setup is designed for use at Golf Courses when you wish to skip the Tee Sheet and/or Golf tab in Global Sales and instead change applicable Greens Fees from the Visit Processing screen. In other words, this option assumes you're running a golf course and DO NOT use a Tee Sheet to track tee times nor to check-in golfers. However, since Punch per Service Item Passes can be linked to any Service Item type, there is actually no limit to the uses of this functionality.
Set Up
The following presents the basic component pieces that need to be in place to take advantage of this functionality:
- Create Punch per Service Item type Punch Passes in Pass Management. Link Fees and Rules as needed.
- Create your Service Items in Service Item Management.
- Service Item Type generally will be Greens Fee or Miscellaneous, though any type is allowable.
- On the Miscellaneous Group, populate the Valid Punch Pass List field with the Punch Pass(es) from Step 1 above
THEN
Go to the Punch Plays field and enter the number of punches you want deducted from the Punch Pass at swipe for the Service Item being charged. For Example: If this is a 9-Hole Greens Fee, you might want 1.00 punch deducted; if this is an 18-Hole Greens Fee, you might want 2.00 punches deducted, etc… - Any Fees and Rules linked to your Greens Fees Service Items will need criteria to determine how Fees are charged and which Rules apply to the sale of the Service Item.
- Go to your Daily Processing profile •Miscellaneous Information Tab and link your default Golf Course in the Default Golf Course field. This should be the golf course at which the Punch per Service Item Punch passes will be used.
- In Golf Course Management, for the Golf Course listed in your Daily Processing profile:
- Link any Greens Fee Service Items in the Linked Service Item field that you want added to the Shopping Cart automatically. These can be Service Items to which your Punch Per Service Item Pass Codes are listed, if desired.
- List the Per Service Item Punch Passes you will use in the Member Pass field.
- Ensure the Facility Location field lists the same Location as the one listed in your Visit Processing profile.
- As noted above, ensure that Fees, Rules, and Criteria on your Service Items are valid in the event you charge different rates for different scenarios. For Example: You might want Greens Fees for both regular Members and Per Service Item Punch Pass holders added to the cart automatically upon swipe in by either type of golfer. In this scenario, you would need at least two (2) Greens Fee Service Items, each with its own Rule dictating the Pass Code needed to place it in the cart. This document cannot cover nor discuss the unlimited number of greens fees scenarios which are possible.
Global Sales Visit Processing / Touch Screen Visit Processing
The following presents a basic example how this might be used during Visit Processing in Global Sales Visit Processing or Touch Screen Visit Processing. Keep in mind that set up and use is completely customizable to meet your needs. In this example, two (2) separate Punch Per Service Item Punch Passes exist: one for Greens Fees and another on for Cart Purchase.
- Babe Didrikson purchases her Punch per Service Item Punch Pass (Greens Fee) with 100 punches. She also buys a Punch Per Service Item Punch Pass (Carts) with 100 punches.
- Babe enters the Pro Shop and swipes her Greens Fee Punch pass. A visit is recorded and due to the Greens Fee Service Item being linked at the Golf Course, 6 punches are deducted from her Greens Fee punch pass automatically.
- Babe then swipes her Cart pass. The clerk selects the appropriate Cart Service Item. That is added to the Cart and four (4) punches are charged.
- The clerk then selects any other Service Items Babe needs for her round. Service Items NOT set up to allow purchase via Punch per Service Item passes also may be added. For Example: A sleeve of golf balls, a bag of tees, a power bar, an energy drink, etc…
- The Pro Shop clerk completes the Visit.
- A total of 10 punches are deducted, six (6) from her Greens Fee pass and four (4) from her Cart pass. She is charged for whatever items are NOT charged via Punches.
Note: If you will allow the sale of the same Service Items using both Punch per Service Item Pass Codes and cash, you will need to create duplicate Service Items of each, as the system will not allow sale of a Service Item linked to a Punch per Service Item Pass Code without a valid pass swipe.
For Example: Titanic Thompson arrives as a Guest and purchases a Daily Play Pass and a cart. When ringing up the Golf Cart Service item, the system will disallow its sale IF it is linked to same Service Item you used for Babe Didrikson's golf cart because a Daily Play Pass is NOT a Punch per Service Item pass. Due to this, you will need two (2) Service Items for your golf cart: one for use with Punch per Service Item pass types and one for use with your other pass types.
