Visit Processing: To Make the Enter Key Run a Pass Number Lookup by Default
RecTrac 3.1
Notes: The following steps assume you are re already set up for Custom Screen designs. For more information regarding Custom Screen design, refer to Topic Doc - Screen Customization.
All file paths and screen/tab locations in this document refer to file paths and screen/tab locations as they appear in the standard, default VSI Design. Your setup and Design may vary.
In RecTrac Visit Processing - in Attended mode - the <Enter> key runs a Family Member Lookup for data in the ID Swipe Field by default. You can change this default function to run a Pass Number Lookup instead. This allows you to manually enter a Member's Pass Number, press <Enter> on the keyboard and process the Visit. The basic steps appear below.
- Make a Custom Processing Screen for VisitProcessingArea1.
- In RecTrac, go to Management Ribbon • System Management • Screen Management • Processing Screen Management.
- Click Add.
- Expand the Drop-down list for Base Screen and select "VisitProcessingMain"
THEN
Choose your Design. - Click Continue.
- Click Done. You will be returned to the Processing Screen Management main DataGrid, and six (6) VisitProcssingArea screens will now be added to your DataGrid.
- Highlight/Select VisitProcessingArea1 and click Change. You will continue to the Processing Screen Update screen.

- Save your changes. You will return to the Processing Screen Management DataGrid.
- Click Clear All Cache.
- When cache is cleared, exit Processing Screen Management and launch Visit Processing.
- Enter a valid pass number in the Lookup field and press the <Enter> key on your keyboard.
Troubleshooting
If the <Enter> does not process a Pass Number Lookup, then:
- Close Visit Processing.
- Go to your Visit profile and ensure the Process Type is set to "Attended." Make changes as necessary. Save and exit.
- Clear All Cache again. Do this regardless of whether you made changes to your Visit profile(s).
- Re-launch Visit Processing and key in a Pass Number.
- Contact Vermont Systems Support if the problem persists.
Notes: For this functionality to work, you MUST run Visit Processing in Attended mode. No other mode will work. When running Visit Processing in a mode other than Attended mode, the <Enter> key runs a RecTrac Family Member ID Lookup, so any keystrokes you enter will likely result in an invalid swipe. Visit Processing mode is determined by your setting in the Process Type field on your Visit profile.
