Note: Vermont Systems-Hosted Customers need an Access Code to enter this program. Contact the Hosted Team for further information.
The Database Extent Management program provides a DataGrid that displays your database extents and information about them in order to decide when/whether new extents need to be created. The "Database Extent Size Check" Scheduled Event automates this process. Using the scheduled event is the option Vermont Systems recommends. Optionally, you can add extents manually.
When adding a new extent manually, the program allows you to select the database area and number of extents you want to add. The extent size is maintained on your Static Parameters profile. To add extents, simply select the extent that is full (if it isn't pre-selected). Then make selections in the Area to Extend and Number of Extents to Add per Area fields and click Add Extents. Keep in mind that Vermont Systems recommends using the scheduled event to automate this process.
Notes: Adding extents to the "Control" and "Schema" areas is disallowed. Contact Vermont Systems Support if those extents show as full.
In the event you use Offload Servers, you cannot run this program or the scheduled event to add extents. Refer to the Vermont Systems Knowledge Base entry KA-01368.
To exit this program, click 'X' on the title bar. You will be returned to the Main Menu or the previous program.
