3.1 RecTrac Database not updating in Multi-DB environments
Default Subject
Question
There are multiple databases on my RecTrac server. At times one of the databases will not update with Vermont Systems Data. Other than guessing, is there a way to determine whether data was loaded?
Answer
Yes. It's an easy process, and you are not alone. Hosted and multi-database customers have encountered this issue before too. Here is how you can confirm Vermont Systems Data load failure. If it failed, go to the Steps to Resolve section.
- Log in to RecTrac and find/go to DB Inquiry.
- Change Select Table to View to VSIFieldParams.
- In the Query field, enter the version you were updating to. For example, "3.1.09.05.00." Include the quotation marks. "3.1.09.05.00" is used here as an example.
- Click View. If results come up blank, then VS Data was not loaded during the initial attempt to update. Continue to the next section below.
Steps to Resolve
Change RecTrac servers window's registry settings to only have 1 database to update.
At this time we do not know why the update script skips updating a database when there are multiple ones.
- Backup the registry key for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VSI3\RecTrac\Databases.
- Change registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VSI3\RecTrac\Databases to have the database that's not updating as DB_1 and set the DB_Counter to 1 so that it's the only database the update will find when it runs.
- Re-run Update.
- Import back backed up registry key.
