3.1 Emails Not Getting to External Email Addresses
Problem
We are a new RecTrac customer with an email device set to SMTP. Emails from RecTrac are not getting to email addresses outside of our organization.
This is the pertinent error found in the socketemail.log file.
Unable to Relay 5.7.1 SMTP Error
Solution
You must allow relaying in order for emails from RecTrac to leave your organization's perimeter. Exactly how to setup will vary by email software vendor. But here's how to allow relaying in MS Exchange 2010 from a RecTrac Server:
To permit a non-Exchange server (the RecTrac server) to relay mail you will need to create a new Receive Connector on the Hub Transport server. Launch the Exchange Management Console and navigate to Server Management, and then Hub Transport. Select the Hub Transport server you wish to create the new Receive Connector on, and from the Actions pane of the console choose 'New Receive Connector.'
- Name the new connector 'RecTracRelay' and click Next.
- Leave the Local Network Settings as is.
- Highlight the default IP range in the remote network settings and click the red X to delete it.
- Click the ADD button and enter the IP address of the RecTrac server. Click OK and click Next.
- Click the New button to complete the setup wizard.
The Receive Connector has now been created but is not yet ready to allow the server to relay through it. Go back to the Exchange Management Console, right click the newly created Receive Connector and choose properties.
- Select the Permission Groups tab and click the Exchange Servers box.
- Select the Authentication Tab and turn on the toggle for Externally Secured.
- Apply changes.
You are now setup to allow relaying from your RecTrac server through your Exchange 2010 Server.
