3.1 How to create script to auto start or stop VIC service or EXE
Problem
How do you create a script to auto start or stop VIC service or EXE? Often the Access Control is not connected first thing in the morning so we need to manually restart VIC. Can this be automated?
Solution
For the service a batch file with the following will work:
net stop '(VIC) Vermont Integration Client'
net start '(VIC) Vermont Integration Client'
The EXE is user based so depending on User logged into windows the batch file could change. In the example below we will assume users is 'carterw' You should consider having two different batch files. One to stop, which is generic and the 2nd to start, which is user specific: Run the Stop .bat first:
Stop
Taskkill /im vicexe.exe
Start
'C:\Users\carterw.DOMAINNAME\Desktop\Vermont's Integration Client (VIC).appref-ms'
Notes:
1. Replace the DOMAINNAME with your network domain name
2. Replace carterw with the next user name and save the file with a different name.
3. Schedule all files in Windows Task Scheduler to run as needed.
