3.1 VIC not working after Windows 10 update 1803
Problem
It seems like VIC will not work on Windows 10 after update to Windows 1803
Solution
Here are some troubleshooting tips:
This issue most likely does not have anything to do Windows 10 1803. The VIC exe log is needed, even if running the service only.
The VICexe ALWAYS performs the actual update. The service calls the exe in order to use the ClickOnce process, so the VICexe logs are also needed to see whether there is an error during the attempt to download the DLL or perform a full update.
When using the VIC Service and the update does not occur:
1. Login to Windows as the User that is running the VIC Service.
2. Start the VIC exe if performing a version update you should see the update occur here.
3. Start RecTrac and log in.
4. Change the VIC profile to connect to the VICexe vs. the Service.
5. Exit RecTrac and log back in. Be sure to start a new session. (This step depends on what dll is not being downloaded - some CC processes start at the logon, other processes will download the dll on first attempt from global sales/visit processing/etc...).
6. Depending on the DLL - Run the process that will download the DLL in question.
7. The log should show whether the dll was downloaded or not.
