Problem
Access Control does not work on its own, but the Manual Override buttons in RecTrac on the Access Control Monitor allow access to our facility. We are not seeing any data in the VIC logs when someone swipes/scans.
Solution
This is likely due to the Windows Firewall on the VIC workstation for Access Control. If turning off the Firewall is not an option, or the firewall is already turned off, create inbound and outbound rules to allow communication for UDP ports 57, 87, and 53002.
Steps For Solution
- From the VIC Workstation, go to Windows Firewall.
- Go to Advanced Settings.
- Highlight Inbound Rules.
- Click New Rule.
- Click Port.
- Click Next.
- Click UDP.
- Under Specific Local Ports add 57, 87, and 53002.
- Click Next.
- Click Allow This Connection.
- Click Next.
- Accept the defaults and click Next.
- Give your rule a Name and Description.
- Click Finish.
- Repeat steps 3-14, this time highlighting Outbound Rules.
With the new inbound and outbound rules in place on your Windows Firewall, test your access control again, you should now be able to use it as normal.
