Problem
Our Access Control is not working, but the manual override button in the Access Control Monitor works. We are not seeing any swipe data in the VIC log.
Solution
Since the manual override button works that means that the Access Control setup is correct. Typically, this issue is caused by traffic to or from the Access Control Workstation being blocked in some way.
Check if the Windows Firewall is turned on and turn it off if possible or make inbound and outbound rules to allow communication. If that still does not work, check the virus scan, or see if you can track the data using Wireshark.
Steps For Solution
- On the Access Control Workstation check if the Windows Firewall is turned on, if so turn it off.
- If you cannot turn the Firewall off, make inbound and outbound rules to allow UDP ports 57, 87, and 53002.
- After making changes to your Firewall, reboot the Access Control Workstation.
- Attempt to use Access control again, if it is still not working then:
- Check your Virus scan.
- Track network data using a program such as Wireshark to see where it is being blocked.
Once traffic is no longer blocked, attempt to use Access Control again. You should be able to use Access Control devices normally.
