Problem
I would like to take contactless payments, using cards with the Near Field Communication (NFC) symbol, Google Wallet, Android Pay, Apple Pay, and any other wallet-type apps.
Solution
It's easy! If your Bolt pin pad display screen reads Swipe/Insert/Tap Credit card," then you are already set up to take NFC Payments, and you're good to go. If it doesn't, then keep reading!
Qualifying Information
- CardConnect has to be your credit card gateway*
- You have to be using their Bolt solution.
- Your Bolt pin pads must have a minimum firmware version of 1.6.1.6 or newer installed.
Additionally, there is a contactless payment setting on the pin pad that CardConnect needs to enable. For pin pads ordered on/after January 2019, it should be enabled by default. To test whether contactless payment is enabled, see if the screen display says Swipe/Insert/Tap Credit card. If "Tap" is not on the screen, then contactless payments in not enabled. Reach out to CardConnect (877-828-0720) and have them enable it. A firmware update to your pin pads may be required.

*We do not have a contactless payment solution for our other gateways, Evalon (formerly ETS), PlugNPay, and Verifone.
