10.3 and 3.1 Error 57:Trans. not Permitted-Card when Setting Up Installment Bills w/ Plug'nPay
Problem
When attempting to set up an Installment Bill in GUI RecTrac for a patron using PlugNPay WebXPress ERI, the clerks got the following error:
Error 57:Trans. not permitted-Card.
The department attempted this process again using both MasterCard and Visa cards and they get the same error repeatedly.
Any insight into this?
Solution
Error 57: Transaction not permitted-Card is not a RecTrac error. Rather it is generated from PlugNPay and indicates their setting for your Merchant Account is Retail when it should be Ecommerce (aka MOTO/EComm). Merchant Accounts set to Retail on the PlugNPay site cannot be Retail accounts. They must be MOTO/EComm.
If you have only one (1) Merchant Account with PlugNPay it is most likely set to Retail. If you do regular POS sales and Installment Billing, you must have at least two (2) Merchant Accounts: One for Retail and one for Ecommerce.
To resolve this issue:
1 Ensure you set up all Installment Bills using a MOTO/EComm Merchant Account with PlugNPay.
2 Contact PlugNPay (800-945-2538) and have their representatives change the Account Type to MOTO/EComm.
3 Depending on the needs of your operation, it is possible that you may need a second account. Reasons for this include, but are not limited to, having only one (1) current Merchant Account while doing regular sales and Installment Billing.
