In this video, we're going to review the topic of household and family member level questions and the setup for those in RecTrac. This is a good solution if you're looking to create questions for tracking additional information at the household level or at the family member level and being able to update that. Once when they initially create the record and then obviously for future updates, being able to track that again once for either record, for future updates, highlight an example.

We're going to go to household management in my database, open that up here at the top of our filter down to our example households so lets open this record up. And I've got two household level questions linked to this record. So and in the household information area of the screen, I have an ethnicity question and a language spoken at home question just to highlight where they will display.
00:00:57:02 - 00:01:19:12

And this can be controlled and changed if needed through screen design. So these are both two questions that are giving me additional information and tracked them to the household record. This could just as easily, easily be linked at the member level. And I could, you know, drill into the number of details and update those questions there, if that's where that information made sense.

So where do I go to actually create and link these questions so they display in a database. The first place is going to be question management type question management open here at the top. And I've actually already got it narrowed down to the question type of household. And our example open up one of these records. All we have is the question text.
00:01:41:17 - 00:02:03:24

So in this case I just went with that's ethnicity, the question type. So I link to as household, but it could just as easily be family member level information. And then I've told it that I want to display for all interfaces. So this is going to display in RecTrac and also on WebTrac as I want this information filled out regardless of where the household is created and then the field type is fill in.
00:02:03:27 - 00:02:27:09

I think in many cases you'd want to go with a combo box with set answers, so it makes it maybe a little bit easier for reporting reports on set data. But I'm going to hit Save on this record. So once your initial question records are set up, they need to be linked as actual household number level questions to do that.
00:02:27:09 - 00:02:48:12
Brian Hatch
We do that on the static parameter level. So I'm going to go to profile assignments and I click on static parameters at the bottom and at the top of this screen, we're going to we have each each an questions tab. So I'll click on that and you can see I've already linked that to those two questions that needs to be spoken at home here at the top.
00:02:48:15 - 00:03:08:14

And they're flagged obviously with that question type of household. So that's why we're seeing them when I go to open up my household record. So this is where you can link those and find those for whatever level you want those to display are going to hit. See here, the final piece should be set in most databases, but if it isn't, is through screen design.
00:03:08:16 - 00:03:27:03

So on the RecTrac side, it would be management, screen management if it was on the WebTrac side and the WebTrac screen management. But I'm going to go to on the RecTrac slide and show you an example. So I've already got a filter down to just our household update screen. So we're got a custom screen in here.
00:03:27:03 - 00:03:54:08
Brian Hatch
If you don't have a custom screen, it should automatically show by default. But highlight this. I'm just going to open up this record and and again, depending on what level you're looking to do this and I'll show you where the placeholders currently display. So right now, under household information, we can see that the placeholder for household questions is listed there.
00:03:54:08 - 00:04:18:03
Brian Hatch
So once you create the questions, link them in statics, it's going to display those question records wherever this field is actually set again by default, under some information, which does make a lot of sense since it's tied to the overall household record. And B, the same concept. If you drilled into the family member records, you want the family member level placeholder questions to be displayed.
00:04:18:06 - 00:04:23:20

But that is a walk through of setting up household or family member level. Questions in RecTrac.
