Problem
We want all of our fees to have the Fee Override Settings set to Override with Rights, but sometimes our programmers forget to make that change in Advanced Fee Change, and then customers and clerks can change values we don't want them to change. Is there a way to set this by default?
Solution
There are two ways to change the default fee settings: with Screen Design or by creating Default Fees. These instructions can be used for any fee settings, but for this example, we will focus on updating the default Fee Override Settings, as found in Advanced Fee Change.
Note:
The benefit of using the screen design change is that all new fees will use these settings, even when users start with a new blank fee. The benefit of using the built-in Default Fees option is that you can change the defaults based on the module. This second option is useful when you need fees to be different depending on what they are for and who is creating them.
With both options, you can control who these defaults apply to by using Profile Assignments to assign either the applicable Screen Design profile or the Rules and Fees profile.

- Click Add.

- Repeat steps 6-8 for all of the override fields you wish to update.
- Click Done to save the custom screen.
The next time you create a fee the default values for these override settings will be Override with Rights.
To Change the Default Fees Settings with Default Fees:
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Fee Management.
- Click Add > Add Default Record.
- Give your default fee a Description.
- Expand Fee Override Settings.
- Set each of the options to Override with Rights.
- Make any other changes you wish to apply when using this default fee.
- Click Save.
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Profile Assignments.
- If you already have a Rules and Fees profile, highlight it and click Update.
- If you do not yet have a Rules and Fees profile:
- Click Add.
- Create a Profile Code
- Set Profile Type to Rules and Fees.
- Create a Profile Description.
- Click Create.
- If you do not yet have a Rules and Fees profile:
- Click the Fees tab.
- Under the Default Fees settings group, select your newly created Default Fee under the modules where it applies.
- Click Save.
- Decide where you wish to link the Rules and Fees Profile and then drag the profile from the Available Profiles side to the User/User Group/Workstation/Site/Default under Linked Profiles. See Also: Profile Assignments.
Next time a RecTrac user linked to this Rules and Fees Profile, goes to create a new fee within the module(s) selected in step 11, your default fee record will be used as their starting point.
