The Service Item Bulk Create Options dialog allows you to create new Service Item Codes based on a range of existing Service Item Codes by simple replacement of a Prefix. The dialog also allows you to update existing Codes with new information; such as Fees, Rules, Descriptions, etc…, if desired.
The Bulk Create process works by substituting all or part of the existing Service Item's Code (the "prefix") with a new Prefix. For Example: Your Service Item Code is "1001-GF-18," an 18-Hole Greens Fee code for your Golf Course. When bulk creating new Service Item Codes, you could use any part of that code as the prefix. For purposes of example, you might have 12 different Service Items for 18-Hole Greens Fees: 1001-GF-18 to 1012-GF-18. To Bulk Create 12 new Greens Fees Codes for your second golf course, you would enter 1001-GF-18 to 1012-GF-18 as your Item Code Range and then use "10" as your Old Item Prefix and "20" as your New Item Prefix. Upon running the Bulk Create program, the system would create new Service Item Codes 2001-GF-18 to 2012-GF-18..
The process works on a Prefix basis only and it only creates as many new Codes as you have included in your Item Code Range. Using the example above, you could NOT use Service Item Code 1001-GF-18 to create Service Item Code 1001-GF-09 because "09" cannot be considered a "Prefix." Likewise you could not enter a 12-item range and have the system create 13 (or more) new Service Item Codes. It is a direct one-to-one replication process.
